After recovering from a serious fall, Bob Nicklay needed to relocate somewhere without stairs. When he discovered one of our award-winning Walker Methodist communities just a mile away from his home, the choice became clear.

“At that time, we lived here independently because we didn’t need any help… This apartment was open, and they offered assisted living here. There were no stairs, and it was everything we wanted.”

At first, Bob and his wife started as independent senior living residents. As their care needs evolved, however, they discovered the true impact of their decision.

Making the Transition to Assisted Living

As time went on, Bob and his wife found themselves in need of greater care. Fortunately, many of our senior living communities at Walker Methodist support both independent senior living and assisted living.

As Bob discovered, he and his wife were able to receive the care they needed without changing apartments. 

“My wife fell in the bedroom and became wheelchair-bound, so she needed therapy. After she passed away, my health started going down. I definitely need the care, and they're very, very, very good here about it.”
