Employees honored for excellent customer service
Employees are the core of what makes Walker Methodist a great place to live and work. They are hardworking, compassionate, and dedicated to the residents and patients at Walker Methodist and they are all vital to our Mission and core values.
In 2016, the Foundation established Partners in Excellence, a program to honor and recognize those employees who go above-and-beyond in delivering high quality customer service. A patient, resident, family member or co-worker may nominate an employee by completing a submission and making a minimum donation of twenty-five dollars. Employees are then recognized by their manager, receive a Partners In Excellence pin, and are invited to lunch with Scott Riddle, the CEO and President of Walker Methodist. It is a small gesture -- yet a sincere acknowledgment – of the significant role our staff members play throughout our communities on a daily basis.
At Walker Methodist, we are partners in the care of our patients and residents. Here is just a sample of the comments included in submissions for 2016:

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
The Walker Methodist Foundation was established in 1975 to ensure high quality programs and services are provided for our residents and patients.
The Walker Methodist Foundation provides a vibrant, donation platform for funds to be used to support our programs, services, capital needs for our residents and patients in all of our buildings. In addition, our staff is supported through the Foundation with training opportunities and a Pay It Forward Fund - an emergency assistance fund open to all employees. It is our hope to provide a lasting legacy for Walker Methodist for decades to come.

I am proud of what the Foundation – together with our partners and supporters -- accomplished during my first year. Not only did we significantly expand our housing community in Anoka, but we also hosted a fundraiser, PlazaFest, to raise funds for their new Fitness Center. It was also a banner year for our signature fundraising event, the Walker 5k10k. I am so proud of our team members and sponsors for raising $130,000 – a 12 year high. And that is just for starters!
I have laughed, cried, danced and mourned with residents and their families as they have celebrated love and loss. Our direct care team members continue to inspire me with their enduring dedication to the needs of our patients and residents. Together, we live our Mission daily - Life. And all the living that goes with it!
Moving forward, our focus is to raise funds for new, life-saving technologies for the Health Center, to develop and enhance team members’ skills with scholarship opportunities, and to provide much needed resources for the Pay It Forward program, our employee assistance fund. Because of you, these and additional initiatives are possible. With your support, we continue to provide excellent service and quality care for more than 2,400 patients and residents. How Can you help?Every day, donations are used to help provide rich and vibrant experiences for seniors. It may be a simple project such as supplies for art programs, a new dance floor, or providing Spanish television for a Resident. Or bigger projects such as a new community room or bus. Our goal, with your help, is to create even more opportunities for rich and full lives.

Walker Methodist Foundation 5K/10K Run & Walk
Every year, we hold a 5k and 10k run & walk to raise money for programs and services for our more than 2,400 residents and patients. These programs and services are designed to improve the quality of life and health and wellness for the older adults living in our communities.
